Red Sentinel Maple

Red Sentinel Maple is a columnar red maple that grows at a medium pace to about 40 feet tall and roughly 18 feet wide. A strong central leader and tight branching keep the canopy narrow, so it fits street plantings, parks, and other sites with limited lateral space. Medium-green foliage holds well through summer and shows good anthracnose resistance in typical landscape conditions. In autumn the leaves turn a vivid red, matching the cultivar’s upright silhouette. Hardy in USDA zone 5, it casts useful shade without crowding nearby walks or buildings.
