Twenty years ago, Everett and Sandra Wray took a chance on a new kind of crop. Read the story and view pictures from over the years on our celebration website.
Apollo® Maple
Acer saccharum 'Barrett Cole
Apollo® Maple is a dwarf, columnar sugar maple that reaches about 30 feet tall with a narrow spread near 10 feet. Dense branching and a compact habit make it useful where overhead and side clearance are limited. Dark green summer leaves handle heat better than many sugar maples in exposed sites. Fall color turns gold-yellow before leaf drop. Medium growth rate and USDA zone 4 hardiness support use as a street or courtyard tree in colder regions.
