Heritage Birch Tree
Betula nigra
Heritage Birch is a river birch grown for its pale, exfoliating bark and quick establishment. It is a fast grower to about 40 feet tall and 30 feet wide and performs in USDA Zone 4. Large, glossy leaves emerge a light green and hold through summer. As bark peels, the trunk shows mottled cream, orange, and pinkish-tan tones that remain attractive in winter. Fall foliage turns yellow before leaf drop.
