Scarlet Oak Tree
Quercus coccinea
Scarlet oak (Quercus coccinea) is a medium-growing oak that commonly reaches about 50 feet in height and spread, forming a broad, rounded crown. It is hardy in USDA zone 4. Fall color is a strong red and is often considered among the best in the oak group. Deeply lobed leaves and an open, balanced canopy make it useful as a lawn or park specimen. Plant where there is room for a large, rounded shade tree.
